Your Eyes Need An Adjustment: Prayer To Open Your Eyes

Updated: Jan 7, 2020

Last Saturday, I was laying in my bed having a pity pary and listening to a sermon when God gave me some very specific instructions to follow. He told me to turn away from the TV, but keep listening to the sermon. So I turned my entire body around and kept listening to Bishop T.D. Jakes preach. A few minutes later, the Holy Spirit told me that in this season I must walk by faith and not by sight. While I should be doing this in every season, it is imperative that I follow and do only what God tells me to do in the season. Thus, not be moved by what I see or feel in the natural.

My natural sight was the reason I was having my little pity party. I saw something that trigged me emotionally, but God said in this season I don't have time for that and neither do you. We can't be moved by our emotions in this season. God had to physically demonstrate to me what He wanted you and I to do in the season and that was to stop viewing our problems and struggles from our limited natural perspective. Instead, He wants us to see them through our spiritual eyes and listen to what He tells us to do about them through His wriiten and Rhema Word.

In this season, our prayer needs to be just like the prayer Elisha prayed for his servant in 2 Kings 6:17, "O Lord, open his eyes so he may see." We need God to open our spiritual eyes so we may see things we deem as problems, setbacks, failures, mistakes, struggles, offenses, heartbreak and rejection from His perspective. I am praying God opens our spiritual eyes and spiritual ears.

Your assignment this week is to read 2 Kings 6 and Ephesians 1. Read both chapters. Write down key scriptures, mediate on them. Recite them. Then write down all your perceived problems or issues. Find scriptures to combat them and the declare them. Then pray daily until your wounds turn into wisdom, pain into purpose, and sorrow into strength.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I give You the praise, honor, and glory do unto Your name. Father You said, if we ask any thing according to Your will, You will hear us (1 John 5:14). Today, I ask that You open our spiritual eyes. Enlighten the eyes of our spiritual understanding (Ephesians 1:18).

Remove any demonic scales blocking our spiritual sight .According to your Word in John 12:40, our eyes will not be blinded nor will our hearts be hardened. Like You did for Elisha’s servant in 2 Kings 6:17, open our spiritual eyes so we see You clearer. Show us that there are more for us than against for us. Help us in our daily walk with You see things through the lens of faith and not by our natural sight. I decree and declare in the name of Jesus that we will fix our eyes not on what is seen ( 2 Corinthians 4:18) and we will walk by faith and not by sight ( 2 Corinthians 5:7).

Lord, Your eyes on the righteousness and Your ears are open to their prayers. (1 Peter 3:12). Thank You Lord for hearing and answering this prayer. I declare by faith that our spiritual eyes are opened.

I seal this prayer by the Blood of Jesus!

In Jesus name I pray, amen!
