Did you know that as a child of God, a believer in Jesus Christ, you have the power and authority to cast out demons? So many Christians think that only pastors and deliverance ministers can cast out demons, but that is simply not true. Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He told His disciples, “And those who believe shall use my authority to cast out demons, and they shall speak new languages” (Mark 16:17). Do you believe in Jesus Christ? Is He your Savior and Lord? If you believe in Him and He is your personal savior and Lord, then you have the power and authority to cast out demons. If a demonic spirit is attacking you or someone in your family, you have the right and authority to cast that demon out and bind that spirit.
So many Christians are getting attacked and devoured by the devil daily because they fail to use their that God given authority and power to defeat him. We have power over the enemy! Jesus imparted to us His authority to defeat the kingdom of darkness. In Luke 10:19 He says, “You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm you as you walk in this authority.” He said every demon and every power! Not just the lower raking demons! No, He said every which includes spiritual wickedness in high places and principality demons (highest ranking). You have power over the devil and when you walk in the authority of Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. So stop being afraid of feeling helpless when you come under demonic attacks.
Also, stop expecting God to fight all your spiritual battles for you. As much as love to decree and quote, "this battle is not mines, it's the Lord's" ( 2 Chronicles 20:15), there are some battles God will not fight for us. That is why He equipped us with spiritual armory to battle against Satan and his kingdom. Through our weapons of warfare, we are well able to defeat any demonic power or principality that comes against us.
A month ago, during one of my personal bible studies, the Lord highlighted this scripture to me, "They will be mighty warriors for God, grinding their enemies’ faces into the dust beneath their feet. The Lord is with them as they fight; their enemy is doomed" (Zechariah 10:5). God reminded me through this scripture that as long as He is empowering me, I have the victory through Christ Jesus to conquer and defeat every enemy (spiritually or naturally) that comes against me. And just like God is empowering me, He is empowering you too. You have the power and you have the authority to cast out demons!
As I wrap the first part of this series up, I want to say make sure I empathize this point. Yes, you have the power and authority to cast out demons, but if you don't have an intimate relationship with God or if you are not in good standing with Him (sin, living in disobedience or rebellion etc.) demonic spirits will not respect you. Satan and his demons only respect and obey the orders of those who are good standing in heaven. In other words, those who are 100% of their authority Christ, constantly walking in it and using it, and are living a righteous and holy style. Satan is a legalist and legally by the Word of God if there is a unconfessed and unrepented sin, iniquity, or transgression in your life or in your bloodline, he and his demonic powers have a legal right to keep attacking you and ignore your demands for to them to leave.
So before you attempt to cast out any demonic spirit, please make sure that you confess and repent of all your personal sins, iniquities, and transgressions, and those in your bloodline. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you anything legally the enemy is using against you in the spirit realm and in the Courts of Heaven. You also can find specific repentance and renunciation prayers online. Find them and use them! Make sure Satan has nothing on you when go to battle with him and demonic forces!
