The last two weeks have been rough for me. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually I have been exhausted. I have been in a mental and spiritual warfare. Beloved, it's been brutal. I almost gave up and let the spirits of disappointment and frustration overtake me until I remembered this scripture, "No one who believes in Christ will ever be disappointed" (Romans 10:11).
A simple scripture, yet so powerful and liberating. When you are at the edge of a breakthrough, expect all hell to break loose. And I literally mean all hell. When the devil knows God is about to send you a major blessing or breakthrough, he sends every attack he can against you. As the saying goes he will throw "everything at you but the kitchen sink". Well in some cases, he throws that too! You get the point! Basically, he is relentless. He wants you to give up before the breakthrough. But don't, hold on!
You can overcome everything and everyone coming against you though Christ who strengths you (Philippians 4:13). I don't care what you are going through and how impossible the situation seems; you are going to get through it. All hell is breaking loose because you are the edge of a breakthrough. So, don't give up. Press harder and do these four things.
1. Repent-Because I have been feeling so overwhelmed and frustrated, I have been letting the two sins that easily beset me, cussing and complaining, get the best of me (Hebrews 12:1). The devil wants me to disqualify myself from getting the breakthrough that God is sending to me, so he has been using my weaknesses against me. When I get frustrated, I cuss, and I complain. I know God detests both, but those two sins easily beset me. So, I got to repent! What do you need of repent of? Though we should be repenting daily, when all hell breaks loose the temptation for us to sin increases and many times we give in to its temptation.
What sins have you been committing out weariness and frustration? Whatever they are stop doing them and repent. Give your frustration, worries, and complaints to God! I know Satan is turning up the heat, but don’t let him get you to block your own blessings and breakthrough through sinning. Repent!
2. Increase your prayers-It is so tempting when you are feeling down and frustrated to just lay in the bed and watch Netflix or do nothing. Especially, when you are physically and mentally exhausted. But that is exactly what the devil’s attacks are designed to do, stop you from praying. Satan knows the power of prayer, so he does everything in his power to stop you from praying. He wants you to give into the spirit of depression and defeat and just quit. That is why the bible says, “And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up” (Galatians 6:9).
One sure way to know if you have given up is when you stop praying. When all hell breaks loose in your life you need to increase your prayers. You need to pray every chance you can get! In fact, this is the time you need to be doing spiritual warfare prayer at midnight. You need to let the enemy know you are not playing with him and you will PUSH (pray until something happens) until you get your breakthrough.
3. You need to increase your praise. For the spirit of heaviness, God has given us the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3). You need to praise God like you already have the breakthrough. Romans 4:20 says, “But Abraham never doubted. He believed God, for his faith and trust grew ever stronger, and he praised God for this blessing even before it happened.” Before the blessing came, Abraham praised God before he got his breakthrough and that is the same thing we need to do. We need to be praising God nonstop until the breakthrough comes. When your heart heavy, praise God. When you are mad, praise God. When you are sad, praise God. When all hell breaks loose, praise God!
4. Increase your Word intake. Carve out time daily to read, study, and mediate on the Word. God says He watches over His Word to perform it. The more you have the Word of God in you, the more you will speak it. When all hell breaks loose, the words you speak are crucial. Remember, life and death is in the power of the tongue. Don't speak death to your breakthrough! When you feel overwhelmed with frustration, read and speak God's Word. Do not speak your feelings, speak faith. Speak the Word!
