Looking For A New Church Home? Pray This Prayer.

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

As Christians we are suppose to pray everything. Everything? Yes, EVERYTHING! God has an answer for all of our needs, wants, and desires. They may not always be the answer we want to hear, but He always has an answer! The prayer I need answered in this season of my life, and maybe of few you reading this post right now, is where my next church home should be. I am in desperate need of a spiritual covering. For the past two years, God has allowed me to sit up under individual spiritual mentors and teachers to learn His Word, but now He says it's time for me to join a new church home.

Finding a new church can be a very daunting task. I have visited so many churches over the last few years and the Holy Spirit didn't lead me to join any of them. Understand, it's His job to lead to you to the right church. You just don't pick a church you like and join. Nah, that's not how it works! God wants you to join the church He leads you to because that is where your gifts will be most needed and where you will be best fed in His Word.

If you are in between churches like me, don't fret! Just pray! Pray the prayer I have written below daily until the Holy Spirit leads you to your new church home and family!

Have a church home? Great, praise the Lord! Your assignment is to pray for your family members, friends, and me who don't. Intercede to God on our behalf and ask Him to lead us to the church homes we belong in.

Heavenly Father,

Lord, in Your Word you say I should not forsake meeting together with other believers for worship, instruction, and encouragement (Hebrews 10:25). Right now, I do not have church a home, but I know as I pray You will lead me to the church home and pastor that is in Your will for my life. A pastor who will love, guide, protect, teach, rebuke, and oversee me.

Father, I ask according to Your Word in Jeremiah 3:15, that You give me a pastor after Your Own heart, who will feed me with knowledge and understanding. May he be a man of God who gives his full attention to praying and preaching Your Word (Acts 6:4).

Let him always be eager to present himself before You as a perfect and mature minister, without shame, as one who correctly explains the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15). A pastor who is honorable, full of the Holy Spirit. Let him encourage his flock with Holy Spirit led teachings and provide convincing answers to those who oppose his message (Titus 1:9).

I pray he is a compassionate, wise well-behaved man who lives a spiritual disciplined life. May he be a man of prayer and known for his humility and hospitality (1 Timothy 3:2). I pray he leads his sheep from a heart under Your leadership—not as a way to gain finances dishonestly but as a way to eagerly and cheerfully serve those under his care.

Father, I pray my future pastor guard’s his heart as he acts as Your anointed shepherd overseeing me and my fellow church members whom you have called him to guard and serve (Acts 20:28). Let him lead us tenderly and always pay close attention to the conditions of our heats (Proverbs 27:23).

Help me obey my future pastor and submit to him, recognizing his authority over me, because he must give an account to You as he keeps watch over my soul and continually guards my spiritual wellbeing (Hebrew 13:17). May leading us be a joyous pleasure for him and not just a religious duty. Help us not become a heavy burden to him. Lord, help me apply the scriptures I learn and allow the Word to become deeply rooted inside my spirit, heart, and mind.

Help me fellowship with my fellow church members with Psalms, festive praises, and with prophetic songs given to us spontaneously by the Holy Spirit, so we sing to You Lord with all of our hearts (Colossians 3:16). Let us worship You in wonder and awe (Acts 9:32). I pray we always express love and truth to each other and use our God given gifts to contribute to the growth of the church and help the church operate more effectively ( Ephesians 4:17).

I pray look out each for each other with mutual concern, and there be no division among us body (1 Corinthians 12:25) Let us win souls for Christ by going out in the world and evangelizing! Send us out as labors to cross paths with those who need to know about the love, forgiveness, and salvation of Christ.

I pray that my future pastor is a bold man of Christ and proclaims the Word of God and stands upon it no matter what! Help him rise to the occasion and preach when it is convenient and when it is not. Let him preach with the wisdom, guidance, and patience of the Holy Spirt, as he instructs and teaches Your people(2 Timothy 4:2).

As a blessing for his obedience, commitment and faithfulness as one of your chosen and anointed shepherds, let him receive victor’s crown of glory that never fades away (1 Peter 5:4).

In Jesus name, I pray. Amen
