Is There No Balm In Gilead? 5 Reasons You Are Not Healed

Last night, during my nightly bible study, God asked me this question, "Is there no Balm in Gilead?" Now keep in mind, anytime God asks us a question He already knows the answer. Immediately after receiving the question, I knew the answer. Of course there is! Jesus, the Great Physician, is our Balm! He is our Healer! Divine healing is part of our inheritance in Christ Jesus, as sons and daughters of the Most God. Yet, many of us struggle with physical sickness day after day. Why do we struggle with pain when Jesus paid for healing on Calvary? We all know this scripture, "But He was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities;the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). We know it, but the true question is why aren't we receiving our healing?

There is Balm in Gilead and He want to us heal us. Just like Jesus asked the paralyzed man in John 5, "Do you want to healed?" (John 5:6), He is asking us the same question today. Do you want to be cured of your incurable disease and healed of your sickness? Sure you do! Nobody wants to be sick and suffering in pain. God wants you to be healed and I do as well. So let's talk about why you aren't receiving the manifestation of your healing.

1.Lack of Faith-The father with the demon possessed boy in Mark in 9 believed Jesus was a Healer, he just didn't believe He could his son or shall I say he lacked the faith. The number reason why people don't receive their healing from God is that they don't believe God can, wants to, and will heal them. I understand, it's hard to have faith in Isaiah 53:5 when you have been praying and confessing your healing and you still have symptoms and feel pain your body. That's how the father in Mark 9 felt when the disciples couldn't heal his son and that's how we feel too. We know Jesus is a Healer, we just don't have enough faith to believe He will heal us. Well, Jesus did indeed heal that man's son and He wants to heal you too. I don't care how long you have been dealing with your sickness or how incurable or impossible the doctors' say it is, Jesus can heal you! Just have faith and believe!!!!

2. Sin-Unconfessed and unrepeated sin gives the devil the legal right to afflict our body with diseases and sickness. God is not the author of sickness. Sickness is of the devil. While Bishop T.D. Jakes wrote a best-selling book about the crippled woman in Luke 13, one thing that a lot of people gloss over is her sin. Yes, her sin. Though the bible doesn't talk about it, when Jesus told the woman thou are loosed, what He was really saying is woman you are forgiven of your sin. Therefore, devil talk your hands off her. Infirmity is a demonic spirit of sickness that is attaches itself to us when we sin. I am sure the woman had been praying for years, 18 to be exact, for God to heal her. Yet, in one single day, she was healed. Jesus took away the devil's legal right and the woman's healing manifested immediately. Don't believe me? Jesus told the paralyzed man He healed in John 5, “Now you are well; don’t sin as you did before or something even worse may happen to you" (John 5:14). It was the man's sin that caused him to become paralyzed. Our sins can bring sicknesses to our body, but our repentance can also bring deliverance and healing. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you if any have unconfessed and unrepented sin causing you sickness.

3. Unforgivness-Every sickness has a spiritual root and for many people it's unforgiveness. I believe one of the reasons why people don't receive healing is because of the sin of unforgiveness. Oh yes, unforgiveness is a sin. The bible tells us that if we don't forgive others that have wronged us, God will not forgive us (Matthew 6:15). We are specifically commanded us to forgive others as Christ has forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32). Unforgiveness is holding many people's healing hostage. God wants to forgive them, but He can't because of their refusal to forgive. Who do you need to forgive. Please forgive, so you can be healed!

4. Time- For some people, the set time for God to heal them hasn't come yet. God had a set time for Lazarus to be raised from the dead so His glory could be revealed and manifested. The woman with the issue of blood had a set time to meet and touch Jesus' garment as He passed through her town. God set it up for healing to be made public. He needed others to see and belief in His power and authority to heal. The man in John 9,who was born from birth, had set a time to be healed. Jesus said that He was made blind so the disciples and others "could watch him experience God’s miracle" (John 9:3). Perhaps, God is allowing your sickness to remaim until your set time. Maybe God wants to use your healing to bring hope and salvation to others. Could it be possible that God is using your sickness and eventually healing as a testimony to bring Him glory.

5. Haven't Asked-You have not because you ask not! Jesus said, "Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7). Jesus already bought and paid for your healing on the Cross, by His strips you are healed. But you will never receive that healing if you don't pray and ask for it! Even if you have to be like the persistent widow in Luke 18, keep asking until your healing is manifested. Confess your healing until you receive it! It baffles me how many people suffer in silence or spend time in and out of their doctor's office because they refuse to ask God to heal them. And the irony is they complained to God about being sick! God didn't make you sick, but He can heal you of your sickness! Your healing isn't going to fall from the sky! You are going to have to ask for it! ASK! SEEK! KNOCK!
