If we grasp the full love of Christ, we won't grab at other things to full us." - Lysa TerKeurst.
Yesterday while watching a reality show the Lord begin to speak to me. He said to me, "Why is that My sons and daughters seek love from men and women who don't know me? They so desperately chase after love from others when I have an abundant love that overflows if they would only chase after Me." All of us have a need and desire to be loved because God created us that way. Yet, what most of us don't know is the love we so desperately crave in others can only be found in Him. You can't give love if you haven't first experienced and received it. The bible tells us God is love and love is God (1 John 4:8).
To know love, to give love, to receive love, you must first know God. A person who doesn't know God intimately doesn't know love. They know it's imitation, lust. They know the world's perception's of it, romantic feelings and affections, but they don't know that fullness of Christ's love. Love that satisfies. Love that is unconditional and never gives up. Love that accepts. The love that heals, sets free, delivers, and forgives. Love that cannot be found in a man or woman.Love that can only be found in God. It is only when we have received the fullness of God's love, the love of Christ, that we can pour out that love into others hearts.
It breaks God's heart when we seek others' love for before His. After all we love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Yet, we run behind people, places, and things that don't love us. God watches us seek everything in our lives but Him. Yet, every time those things disappoint us, hurt us, and reject us, we run to Him and ask Him for to fix it or heal our broken hearts. Like the loving God He is, He mends our broken hearts, comforts us with His unconditional love, then we abandon Him and run once again after the very people and things that broke us. Oh this exhausting cycle we put ourselves through!
God is crying today for you to love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength! Only then can you love yourself and give that love to your neighbors as He commanded us to in His word. To help you on your journey of seeking His love, I created a prayer you can pray daily. Pray it in the morning and before you go to bed at night. Fully grasp Christ's love for you and then allow Him to pour out that love through you to others.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unconditional and everlasting love for me. Today I want to bask and be filled in this love. My greatest desire is to love with all my whole heart and develop a personal, intimate relationship with You.
Lord, lead my heart into a full understanding and expression of Your love. A love that surpasses knowledge, that makes me filled with Your fullness of love for me (Ephesians 3:19). Christ, I invite You to dwell in my heart through faith that I may be rooted and grounded in Your love, and able to grasp how wide, deep, and long Your love for me is (Ephesians 3:11-18). As I abide in the Your love, You love will abide in me.
In the midst of the busyness and chaos in my life, quiet me with me with Your love (Zephaniah 3:17). Perfect me in Your love that no root of fear may develop and grow in my life because Your perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). Help to receive and walk in this love daily.
Thank you for love God. A love that can never be taken from me. Death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation can separate me for Your love, the love in Christ (Romans 8:38-39).
Today I receive this love and I walk it in abundantly and fully and share it with others.
I seal this prayer with Your love and the precious Blood of Christ!
In Jesus Name, I pray.
