When I woke up yesterday morning, the Holy Spirit said to me write about sleep. I thought to myself, “Sleep! That’s it! That’s my #SheWritesIt topic for this week?!” But of course, the Holy Spirit read my mind and said to me, “You asked me for a topic last night before you went to bed and this is it!” So after getting checked in the spirit, I accepted my topic and I begin to write as He spoke to me.
Do you struggle sleeping at night? Do you suffer from frequent insomnia? If you answered yes to either of those questions, this week’s post is for you! When I began to pray and ask God why I and people in general suffer from insomnia He told me to read and study all the scriptures about sleep in the bible. After reading and mediating over those scriptures, I discovered all of them use at least one or more of these four words: afraid, anxious, peace, and rest. God said to me people who suffer from insomnia are people who lack faith in their lives. If you struggle with sleeping at night, the root to your sleep deprivation is a lack of faith in God.
One of the fruits of faith is peaceful sleep. People who have peace in God sleep well at night because they know God will take care of them. King David wrote in Psalms 4:8, "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." Sleep comes easily and peacefully to those who have faith in God and in His Word. If you cannot sleep at night, that is a sign that you lack faith! God doesn't want you staying up all at night. He desires for us to go to sleep at night!
In Psalms 127:2, says, "It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. Upon further revelation of that scripture, you notice that it includes the word anxiously. Anxiety is a fruit of the spirit of fear and God did not give us the spirit of fear ( 2 Timothy 1:7). Fear can keep you up at night, but as Pastor Real Talk Kim says, "Faith makes a fine pillow."As Jesus said it best, " Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Worry doesn't add hours to our lives, but it sure does take away hours! It takes away hours of our sleep! Insomnia is a demonic spirit rooted in fear that manifests itself in our lives through worry and anxiety at night. The devil uses the spirit to torment us and breakdown our focus and concentration because he knows we need both to function properly in our daily activities. So what does he do! He sends the spirit of insomnia to keep us from sleeping. But today I came to break that spirit of insomnia off your life by telling you the truth because God said in His Word and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32).
The truth is you cannot sleep at night is because you lack in faith in God. You don't trust Him because if you did you would, give Him all your worries and cares ( 1 Peter 5:7). and go to bed. When you cast your worries on to God, He gives you His peace. And remember peace is a manifestation of faith! The spirit of insomnia only attacks people with little to no faith in God. That spirit has no legal right in the Kingdom of God to attack a faith filled believer. So if you suffer from insomnia you need to increase your faith in God.
Starting next week, all my #SheWritesIt blog posts in the month of May, will be centered around faith. Alright loves, I hope yo go to bed without fear and sleep soundly from now on (Proverbs 3:24 )!
